The breast reconstruction after its removal (mastectomy), due to breast cancer or any other disease, is one of the current surgical procedures within the plastic surgery that is most rewarding for the patient. The development of new techniques and medical materials allows the plastic surgeon to create a breast similar in shape, texture and characteristics contrary to the non-operated breast.
The operation tries to rebuild a breast with a natural look, including, if the patient wishes so and insofar as it is possible, the areola and the nipple.
It achieves to eliminate the need to carry prosthesis fill, enabling to wear clothing that would not be possible without reconstruction (swimwear, necklines, etc. ), and above all, fill the gap and the deformity that remains in the breast restoring the body image, thus improving the quality of life of the patient.
